This morning, we went to the most extravagant market I have ever seen. After meeting at the Cathedral that we visited last night, we walked a little farther into the old city, to an outdoor market in one of the plazas. Comparing it to a farmer’s market is a bit of an understatement. It wasn’t huge, but there were about 4 long aisles, each crammed with tiny stands overflowing with just about every kind of seafood, fruit, seasoning, and bread one can possibly think of. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so to save y’all the time, here’s a few of the marketplace and the old town:

When we returned to the classroom, we learned how to make Gazpacho, a chilled vegetable soup. It was kind of similar to drinking V8 juice with pieces of cucumbers on top as a garnish. All in all, it was not a bad way to spend a morning.
I had a rather uneventful rest of the day, which was spent working on our two oral presentations, entrevista en el mercado, deciphering an article, and running on the beach. We are all looking forward to nuestro primera fin de semana, which it looks like will hopefully be spent in Lisboa, Portugál.
